Welcome to our March Blog! This month being March means the month of green! With St. Patrick's Day coming up, there's no better time to get fireworks to celebrate!

St. Patrick's Day – a day of camaraderie, good cheer, and perhaps a pint or two of the black stuff. It's a time when the streets fill with the sounds of celebration, and friends and strangers come together to honor the Irish spirit. Within the laughter and banter, there's another tradition that's part of the St. Paddy's celebrations: fireworks.

Did you know, the tradition of incorporating fireworks into St. Patrick's Day festivities can be traced back to Ireland's long-standing love affair with pyrotechnics? Historically, fireworks were used in various cultural and religious celebrations throughout Ireland, including St. Patrick's Day, as early as the 18th century.

From small-scale displays in local communities to grand showcases in larger cities, fireworks became an integral part of the annual celebration of Ireland's patron saint. As Irish immigrants spread their traditions and customs to other parts of the world, they brought with them the tradition of using fireworks to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Today, St. Patrick's Day fireworks displays are held in cities and towns across the globe, from Dublin to New York City, as a nod to Ireland's rich cultural heritage and as a way to honor the spirit of St. Patrick himself.

Some fun st. Pats-related fireworks we have would be, MOJO, and our Puff Puff Boom!

Talking about fun fireworks events outdoors brings up another March favorite, Spring! As the spring equinox takes place it gets warmer and more exciting fireworks events happen. We got some great springtime fireworks as well with, Mugs Up, Grillin and Chillin, Bonfire, and our favorite 4pc Family Chicken Dinner!

Make sure you are doing your spring cleaning right this year, by disposing of all of your fireworks correctly and safely!

To properly dispose of fireworks, you can soak them in water, wrap them in plastic, and throw them away in the trash.

1. Soak
Submerge fireworks in a bucket of water for at least 15 minutes, but ideally overnight. This deactivates the gunpowder.

2. Wrap
Wrap the soaked fireworks in plastic wrap or a plastic bag to prevent them from drying out.

3. Dispose
Throw the wrapped fireworks in your outdoor trash can. You can consider moving the trash can away from your house or other flammable items until it's picked up.

Don't relight
Never attempt to relight a firework that didn't ignite or didn't work as expected.

Check for moisture
If you find an old firework, check to see if it's been in contact with water, which can make the gunpowder unstable.

Environmental impact
Fireworks are made of metals, fuel, and harsh chemicals. If not disposed of properly, these chemicals can leak into groundwater and harm the environment.

With Fireworks comes cookouts! Heres some safety tips to help you dispose of Charcoal briquettes and Empty propane tanks.

Charcoal briquettes:

After grilling, spread out the coals so they do not touch. Leave the coals overnight to cool down and ensure they are fully extinguished before adding them to the garbage container. Briquettes that are still warm can start a fire when put in the garbage container or even inside the garbage truck.

Empty propane tanks:

For grills that use propane, the tank should be fully emptied and brought to the City’s hazardous waste facility for free disposal. Or taken to a store that can take the empty tank and replace it with a full new one for a cheaper price rather than buying a new tank full priced.
